The EUROPEAN ACADEMY for NANO EDUCATION
EANE (the European Academy of Nano Education) makes high-quality, EU-aligned learning freely accessible to anyone, anywhere.
We believe that lifelong learning should be available regardless of income, location or the amount of free time someone has. Our solution is simple: practical, mobile-friendly learning that fits into everyday life. Most EANE modules take just three to seven minutes to complete, making it possible to learn on the bus, during a coffee break or whenever a few spare minutes become available.
Our growing catalogue spans a deliberately broad range of disciplines, reflecting the knowledge and skills people need to participate fully in modern European society. Subjects include digital skills, enterprise, education, media, community development, environmental sustainability, wellbeing, arts and culture, languages, European citizenship and many more.
Each module concludes with an automatically graded multiple-choice assessment. To encourage durable learning rather than immediate recall, assessments use a randomised question order and a 60-minute cool-off period between attempts. A 100% pass mark is required to earn credit for a module.
Modules are organised into curated courses containing compulsory and elective learning. Successfully completing the required credits awards a printable A4 course certificate with a unique QR code that enables anyone to verify its authenticity. Courses can also be commissioned by organisations, including as companion certification for live, face-to-face training.
Learning does not stop there. EANE certificates are designed to be stackable. By earning six certificates within the same subject category, learners unlock a Nano-Diploma retention examination: a comprehensive 30-question assessment drawn randomly from the content of those six courses. Passing this examination demonstrates longer-term retention across a wider body of knowledge and awards a Nano-Diploma, EANE's higher-level, stackable meta-credential.
Every certificate and Nano-Diploma carries an indicative European Qualifications Framework (iEQF) level. These are editorially assigned by EANE using published EQF descriptors and are intended to indicate the cognitive level of learning in a manner consistent with the principles for stackable micro-credentials described in EU Council Recommendation 2022/C 243/02. They are indicative levels rather than official EQF awards. See our iEQF and Nano-Diplomas pages for full detail.
Every module follows a structured editorial process that combines subject expertise, evidence-informed instructional design and carefully governed AI-assisted workflows where appropriate. Human editorial oversight remains central throughout, ensuring academic quality and consistency across every module we publish.
Behind the platform is a deliberately lean engineering philosophy. By using efficient, standards-based technologies and keeping infrastructure lightweight, we minimise operating costs and can keep EANE free for learners while remaining sustainable as the platform grows.
Why "nano"?
Because our modules are nano-sized, bite-sized, focused, designed to fit the gaps in your day. Five minutes on the bus is enough to learn something genuinely useful.
