Crediting Indigenous and minority creators

Why proper credit isn't a footnote — it's an act of respect.

Name. Group. Permission.

When working with art, music or stories from a minority, Indigenous, or Roma community, three things matter:

1. NAME — credit the individual creator, not 'a Roma musician'. 2. GROUP — name the community of origin if appropriate (e.g., 'Sámi yoik tradition, Norway') without flattening it. 3. PERMISSION — sacred and ceremonial material is often NOT for outside use. When in doubt, ask the community's own cultural body.

The principle: do not become wealthy or famous from a culture whose people remain marginalised.
