A quick check that improves safety
Tyres are the only part of your vehicle that touches the road. Worn tread reduces grip, especially in wet weather. Regular inspections help you identify problems before they affect safety.
Check tread depth
Look at the tread across the entire tyre. Most tyres include tread-wear indicators moulded into the grooves. When the tread approaches these markers, the tyre is nearing the end of its useful life and should be assessed for replacement.
Look for uneven wear
Wear on one edge, both edges or the centre can indicate incorrect tyre pressure, wheel alignment issues or suspension problems. Uneven wear is often a warning sign that something else needs attention.
Inspect the whole tyre
Check the sidewalls and tread for cuts, bulges, cracks or embedded objects. If you find significant damage, seek professional advice before continuing to drive. A monthly inspection takes only a few minutes and can prevent costly problems.
