Be present without becoming the subject
A visible interviewer helps shape the conversation and may represent the audience, but the contributor usually remains the main source of interest. The interviewer should provide structure without competing for attention. Long personal comments, repeated displays of knowledge or stories about the interviewer's own experience can shift focus away from the guest.
