Time banks and skill-sharing

An hour for an hour — how time banking strengthens local economies.

Currency: time

In a time bank, members exchange services using HOURS as currency. An hour of accounting equals an hour of dog-walking equals an hour of language tutoring. Everyone's time is valued equally.

Time banks exist in over 30 EU countries (TimeRepublik, Banco del Tempo, Selvedge, hOurworld). They're particularly powerful in communities where money is tight: members can access services they couldn't otherwise afford, AND feel valued for skills the market underprices (caring, listening, cooking).

Start with 10–15 members, a shared spreadsheet, and one monthly 'social' to keep trust warm.
