Choose a pace the audience can follow
Nervous speakers often accelerate, while overly careful speakers may become slow and mechanical. Effective pace changes according to meaning. Familiar information can move steadily, but a key name, instruction or conclusion may need more space. The listener should have enough time to understand each idea without feeling that the speaker is waiting for every word.
