Welcoming people with anxiety into groups

Small design choices that lower the threshold to joining.

Predictability lowers anxiety

Anxiety thrives on uncertainty. Six adjustments that meaningfully help:

1. PUBLISH the agenda before the event. 2. SAY where to sit ('any seat is fine'). 3. ALLOW arriving late or leaving early without comment. 4. EXPLAIN the loo location at the start. 5. AVOID surprise round-the-room introductions. 6. FOLLOW UP with one short, no-pressure message the next day.

These cost nothing and turn a one-off attendee into a regular.
